When I get to take delivery of my new acquisition, one of the first things I will probably want to do is a repair to the roof (hard) middle section. Has anyone here ever effected a successful home recover?

I have the intention of eventually putting on a complete new top in dark blue but that won't be until I have bedded in with the car and know its the right place to waste, whoops sorry spend my money. Meanwhile the rear section is pretty good but the middle lift off section is a little rough on the edges.

What is the material? and has anyone got tips on doing this?

Thanks
Steve

Hi Mate...The material is Mohair, I haven't any experience of re-covering but i shouldn't imagine it would be a major mission...Although i could be wrong...smash

Didn't someone do a how-to - maybe on the Wedgepages??

Found it - read through this http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... (from the FAQ anyway) and half way down there's a link to how to re-cover the targa.

Cheers Guys,
that looks a good read before attempting anything.

Best place to pick up a piece of suitable mohair?

Steve.

I recovered my centre section a couple of years ago with a good quality canvas and died it to match the rest of the hood and its been fine although it is starting to come away from the bonding now which I think is due to it being used right through the winter. I took off the old one for a pattern and it was quite easy to do and cost very little.
