Rare cars you have owned

I used to own a Mitsubishi Galant GTI, which I sometimes wish I'd kept as they are rare nowadays.



Apparently there are only 3 on the road now / 7 SORN

A Gemballa bodied 928 S4 was a rarity, at the time I had it only 2 in the UK.

Clio v6 is probably the rarest.....but nowhere near as rare as your Top Trump. Also have an Integra DC2 which is getting rarer (and mine has 72,000 miles which is pretty low for a 16 year old car).

Be interested to see what other people have as I'm always interested in rare cars like the Evo Estate or maybe a Stagea or something.

BMW E30 C2 2.7 convertible. Unsure how many were sold in the UK, but between 10 and 20 is a good guess.

Porsche 964 turbo 3.6. 1 of 42 UK RHD cars.

Ford Cortina Mk2 Savage. There can't be many of these left now.

I think my JDM 4 door WRX STI is unique in the UK, well, as far as I know!

My Monaro is one of 138 (iirc) vy cv8 models imported into the UK. Probably rarer now since many have been written off over the years.

In terms of my rare car ownership, I have an almost completely standard S2 106 Rallye. The only thing I've changed is the exhaust. Of the 106 Rallyes, around 1000 S1's were sold and 500 S2's were sold in the UK. Of the S2's, 250 were Bianca White and the other 250 were Indigo Blue. Mine is an Indigo Blue. There are now less than 800 S1's and less than 400 S2's. I suspect the real numbers are far, far lower for either. I do recall reading a conservative estimate somewhere suggesting there were between 600-700 Rallyes left of both generations. And plenty of those will be 16v conversions too, which spoils it a bit, for me.

I've got mine for sale, and it looks as though it may well be sold by next week but it will be something I'll look back on and say 'I'm really glad I had one of those when you could still find them!'.

It was a great car, the S60/V70R alloys killed the ride but it was worth it - manual gearbox too, it had 155k on the clock and still pulled like a train. I had a few bad months where I was out of work and sold it as it was a second car, the day after it sold I was offered a new job here in Aberdeen (from Huddersfield originally), if the offer had come in a day earlier I wouldn't have sold it and still wish I had kept it.

205 4x4 dimma cosworth ,I only know of one more genuine cosworth dimma and its a clio

I had a Datsun laurel 2.4 (Just before they made a the nissan laurel). I loved that old car. Solid with not a bit of rust and a nice straight six. Wasn't the fastest thing but was a great cruiser with comfy seats. Never cost me a penny in repairs except for the usual service. Mileage sucked but who cared. I tried to find a pic but below is as close as I could come.

Awesome, I imagine that didn't hang about?!

I've had an S1 106 Rallye. Only ever saw 2 others in the 8 months I had it.
My current Clio 197 is seemingly rare, I've only seen 1 other in 2000 miles, I've seen a few RS200's but only 1 earlier 197.
