So..... Not an Aston Martin per se....
More a homage? Or the automotive equivalent of a fake Rolex?

Personally, I think it's gorgeous!!! I want one!! I wonder where they will place this price wise?

I think the car looks stunning, to most observers the reaction would be "Wow a DB5, like James Bond's car." There would lie the problem! The need to explain that it was a copy, sort of fake, not the real deal but a sort of £500K lash up albeit very pretty. For that sort of money the real deal could be sourced with the inevitable dramatic escalation in value. Having said that I wish the company good luck.

Don't think the front end works, don't think the wheels work and don't understand what the market is - for the same money (they haven't released the price but I'm getting the impression a good few hundreds of thousands of £s), I imagine you could get a DB6 and have it modernised by a specialist - I know which one I'd rather have !

Same here (although would take a DB4 over a 5)

The new one looks alright, especially from the back, but will never look as good as the original.

I agree, but there is a point to the car - 2014 reliability! That thing will blat along the autoroutes, the autobahns and the autostradas all day at 100+ with satnav, aircon and lumbar adjustment. A DB4/5/6 won't. Besides, if you can afford one of these, you'd probably already have a DB4 in the garage smile

If you just wanted something to do that buy the XKR upon which it is based and save yourself a load of cash!

George in 'missing the point' shocker rolleyes

If you can afford one of these... you don't need to save the cash. Just imagine for a second that you're Lotto Tony. Now imagine being able to buy EVERYTHING in the world. Twice. Now you see why this car exists yes

I still struggle to see why you would buy a car tries to be as special as a classic, with the reliability etc of a modern car.

It will be compromised in both areas.

Also speaking of Lotto Tony.... I saw this on twitter. It's not him is it? biglaugh

Not for me.
I have no interest in looky likey.
I would go for an original 50/60's Ferrari,Mazi or Aston both for their aesthetic and heritage appeal .
I cannot understand why anyone would choose to buy this car ,If you want a modern car there are so many to choose from .
Just remembered ,Simon Cowell has just bought an Eagle, that says it all,no disrespect to Simon who is an excellent showman.

There is a point to the car - look at the Singer 911, which I'm a huge fan of. But this just doesn't look that great from the front and the whole retro thing but modern interior looks a somewhat muddled project.

Plus, I think this looks like an Aston, called David Brown, kind of a take on a DB5 business but it's definitely not an Aston is wholly unhelpful. Even though the guy is indeed called David Brown, I don't think they should call the company David Brown - it adds to confusion & cynicism for me

I like the idea of it, although I couldn't help thinking the design was lacking. Forgive the butchered picture, but I think a grill with more DB5 shape, and a slightly deeper front spoiler improved things. Hasn't stopped the women running away scared though.

The Singer is a bit different - it takes the original car and applies modern running gear. This is just a modern copy.

I agree of course that Singer take a base donor car which is therefore different to this project. But they don't use very much from it apart from the original chassis, a bit of glass and a handful of body panels. They replace most of the body panels, in most instances changing the lines. They replace the lights. They change the wheels. In some instances the replacements are in the style of older 911s than the donor car, in some instances not. The interior is again a combination of original & non original looking items from a variety of eras. Sounds like a dogs dinner on paper but in practice it works. It's all in the execution of course

But my point was that you said:
I still struggle to see why you would buy a car tries to be as special as a classic, with the reliability etc of a modern car. Others had similar types of questions

A Singer IMO is a combination of classic/modern but because it keeps so little of the donor car, IMO is NOT a classic.

As for the car itself, I don't get doing an almost copy but not a copy. Almost an Aston but not an Aston. Almost a 'DB' (as in David Brown) but not a DB. Almost a DB5 but not the right front or grille. Either do an exact copy or do something influenced by, but more different than this car is, to the original. This is neither one thing or the other and IMO suffers as a result.

AML have two design trade marks (possibly more).

One is the grille design, and the other is the design of the outlet vent in the front wing.

In the first front 3/4 view, I thought 'Aston', but then when I saw the front-on view, I immediately thought 'Mini', which is not good. And the side view made me think Ferrari, while the rear 3/4 it was again Aston.

I like the concept, but it has not enough DB4/5/6 in it for me. When you look at an Eagle (or a Singer), you never think of anything other than the car it is based on.

How would you compare this to the Evanta DB4 zagato based on a Db7? http://www.evanta.co.uk/aston-martin-db7-conversio...

or even the DB4 barchetta they make? http://www.evanta.co.uk/zagato-barchetta.htm

Personally I think its a interesting car etc but I'd rather just have a real DB4/5. It's a shame too it has a XKR chassis, not a V12s or a DB9.2 chassis, or at least a AM V12.
