Trying to value a car I've been given.

Hi all. My grandads given me his old car which he's now unable to use due to ill health.

It's a 99 Honda Civic vtec 1.6 se with 44k miles on the clock. It's in mint nick and has hardly been used recently, but i'm struggling to find comparisons with the same spec to value it against.

I've tried a couple of onle 'free valuation' service which have all come out at what to me anyway , is a very high value:

All have said around:
£1,622- £1,775

I was expecting more along the lines of 500 quid to be honest, so was considering keeping it as it's ultra reliable , but if i can reasonably expect to get over a grand for it I will sell it. Are these valuation things to be believed, is it worth paying for a parkers valuation to give me some kind of guidance as to what i can realistically achieve price wise?

I assume it's a 5 door?

They're not that desireable TBH.

If it's a 3 door (EK shape) then you'll get £1500 easily if it is in good nick and is a nice colour.

Sounds about right, tax/mot a factor obviously.

yeah it's a 5 door. It's got 6 months tax and MOT left, sailed through the last MOT. Unfortunatly it looks like the type of car Alan Partridge would drive, complete with fake walnut dash. so i understand why it's undesirable!

Yeah unfortunately the 5 Doors are only really worth anything if they're the MB6 VTI/S variant.

The standard car (MA chassis) is a bit crap.
