Ocean Terminal - Leith, warships

Hi all, on a shopping trip with the missus and noticed a few different nationalities warships moored up, what's the occasion?

I would guess it's the preparation for Exercise JOINT WARRIOR which will run between 31 Mar to 11 Apr.

Who will providing the maritime recon will it be the French?
Is that just about everything we have that is active involved in that?

There's a bunch of Arleigh Burke destroyers at Faslane and RFA Lyme Bay is anchored in the Clyde and has been visited by a steady stream of Chinooks and Pumas.

Also saw the ones at Ocean terminal - Turkish, Swiss, Danish, German and French.... and, of course, Britannia!!

Ah. There is at least one PHer involved in this exercise. He mentioned it in the Pedal Powered section, a while back. He'll be involved operating Chinooks to/from ships at sea, with a significant land forces involvement. He didn't mention the exercise by name, but there can't be more than one such deployment going on concurrently (we simply don't have the assets or manpower ).

Saw a few coming in up the Firth,they looked a lot bigger & greyer than the usual Fisheries ships
I was there later so took some (rubbish) pics





From a bit of googling I think the German ship is the Braunscheig class corvette Magdeburg, the Norwegian ship is the frigate Thor Heyerdahl,I think the Danish ship(F362) is the frigate Peter Willemoes(but wiki says its under build up) & the little French ship is teh patrol oat Pluvier. I cant see the Turkish ships number on my pics

Pluvier (P 678) Flamant class Fisheries Patrol Boat, France
Peter Willemoes (F 362) Iver Huitfeldt class Frigate, Denmark

Pluvier was in at Portsmouth last September, alongside with the (larger) UK Fisheries Protection vessel HMS Tyne...
