Time for a new rear roof section, old one not bad but a bit faded (tried Renovo colour restorer - no different).

Am seriously considering going for the rectangular rear window rather than the standard 'wrap around' shape. Main reason for this being that these seem to allow the roof to fold a little lower, less creasing of the plastic etc. Mine has a Sportmotive roll bar so with the roof down as far as it'll go, the rearview mirror is like looking through a letterbox. Not a major issue, but if I'm replacing the roof anyway, seems like an opportunity to improve the situation biggrin

So... have seen these fitted to a few Chims, anyone got a pic of a Griff with one? Also interested in whether or not general rear visibility is affected with a smaller window area.

Don't go for a rectangular one as (IMHO) they don't look good. The roof of a Chim and Griff is the same so take a look at mine. It's slightly smaller (but not many people would notice) but it does drop slightly lower meaning that the rear view mirror is useful when the roof is down rather than just seeing the roof!!!

Good luck.

Nice.... Haven't seen that before. Do you have a link to a supplier?

My roof was fitted a few weeks ago by Dave the Trimmer in Milton Keynes (which might be a bit far for you) but I'm sure local trimmers could do the same.

He does indeed.
Cumbria is a great place to live but not over endowed with trimmers. I'm about 2hrs from Blackpool so it'll be going to John and Cath (Trim Technician).

I recently had a new hood and targa covered in dark blue and opted for a "square" window panel. No impact on rear vision and I actually prefer the look. The hood struts are still visible. The hood does fold lower which is useful for rear vision.
Thanks - must admit I don't mind the look of the alternative panel and most of the time its being driven the roof is down anyway hehe

Good to know rear visibility isn't affected. Any chance of a pic?

My one is in dire need of a new rear window. The roof sections are still ok, but very faded. I had plans of having a new rear screen stitched in and then applying RENOVO on the cloth sections, but I have spoke to 2 local trimmers and both have told me that a new window can't be fitted as there machines couldn't hold the roof and stitch at the same time !
So I would have to have a new roof @ £600 plus !

Skint at the mo, so a new roofs a no go. Anyone know if a new rear screen can be fitted and who in the Sth East can do it ?

I'm sure a bloke advertises fitting the rear screen on Ebay. If I remember rightly it's about £150

Tough luck with the window, £600ish sounds right - am getting mine done as part of a retrim, so if I don't stare at the final bill too hard I'm hoping the roof will be lost in the details....

Have you tried any of the breakers?

Well it just so happens that I have the smaller window area on my griff..... And after owning my previous Griff with a standard rear window....I have to say, this is a big improvementyes

Ok you do lose a little periferal view, but it makes little difference when parking etc.... I really like it, and it certainly allows the roof to fold down a little further..

that was as wide as the screen would go without starting to go round the curve of the roof and creasing. it folds a lot easier and doesn't do that creasing thing on the sides of the screens.
