Clear tails or stay with red on MY08 Roadster?
Discussion
I just bought my 2008 roadster. Absolutely love it! But the most i look at it, the more i think it needs clear tails. Im still undecided. What do you guys think?
Its about $1850 the cheapest ive found. I would install myself. My biggest worry is probally taking off the old painted inlay, i wouldn't want to break it.

Clear for me... I think the silver and chrome bits compliment the clear lenses nicely...less fussy if that makes sense. But that's just my view.

Agree - If you like contrasts then they will look good on a dark car. If you like them to compliment then they will look good on the lighter cars.I did them on Tungsten Silver.
I liked the freshness they gave the car

But seriously, to the OP: as you can see, I have also got a Meteorite V8V (although mine is obviously a coupe). I used to think that the dark red and the dark grey always looked particularly good together:

However, I recently fitted a set of the clear lights. I'm amazed at the difference it makes to the car. The picture doesn't really do it justice but I can heartedly recommend the change.

$1850 sounds a bit steep. There is currently a set available in the classified section: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/parts-and-p... Maybe the seller might be willing to ship them to the USA. It will certainly come to a lot less than $1850!

Clear is the way to go on that colour car. It gives it a more modern look...
I went from red to clear on my Meteorite car and to remove the odd splashes of colour on the sides and front, also went for chromed indicator bulbs to get rid of the orange.

+1 made my Grigio tungsten v8 feel much fresher-I went from red to clear on my Meteorite car and to remove the odd splashes of colour on the sides and front, also went for chromed indicator bulbs to get rid of the orange.
Where/how did you get the chromed indicator bulbs? Looks great!

IMO the black or dark blue are the only colour to take clear lights. Stick with the red. Another opinion will be along in a minute
Lovely car.
Lovely car.
I have to disagree with BigOne I think the red lights look good on the darker colours and the clear look better on lighter colours as illustrated by LBS's Mako blue vantage that looks very nice.
Then again it's rather a matter of personal choice,I could live with either.
With your colour it would work with either.

I love the way this looks. I think they work really well with your color and those rims are perfect!

That is a very fine looking car. Many congratulations. Am I missing something or have you been keeping it a bit quiet? Love the wheels as well.
Thanks for your positive comments guys.
I think the decision to go red or clear depends a lot on the body colour of the car. On my Mako Blue car the clears look better and give a much "cleaner" overall effect on the rear end (I'd quite like to "tone" the reflectors down somehow).
