Cleaning old leather car seats

Does anyone have tips on removing a persistent musty smell from the leather seats in my 87 XJS?

I've previously applied sliptone leather cleaner followed by conditioner according to the instructions, but the smell remains. Is it simply a case of applying these a second time or does anyone have a better suggestion?

I too have a damp and smelly XJS. Is there a support group? Should we start one?

I think so, in my case.

Apparently they ALL leak, the only questions are where from, and how much.

Which makes me feel a bit beeter.

You're right - all XJSs leak like buggery. It'll definitely be the carpets, or if not the underfelt. Amazingly smelly stuff, underfelt. Rip it out, clean the carpets and let them dry properly, then get new underlay from Woolies or similar, and start again....

Your seats will be the least of your problems.

Lots od things you can slso try. A dessicant can help once it is dry, but to get it dry try a dehumidifyer to dry the inside.

Oh, airing cupboards are good at drying carpets, lining etc. its worth getting as much as possible out to dry
