Sagi is locked away
Discussion
Never had a car worth so much and never experienced such bad driving as I have in the last few years. Looking at the classifieds I realise that there is not one that would replace mine and the chances of finding one over time would be very slim. Spectraflair Silver Sagi and perfect chassis blah blah, not quite a Varley'ised version but not far behind, you get me.
So what do I do..? Drive and enjoy or be paranoid? Sad that I feel like this as I did watch JK on TV a few years ago stating that his cars are to be driven and what a shame it is that some are locked away for others to not enjoy... but.... My Navara gets tailgated everyday and tonight a moron tries to squeeze by and run me into a bus, so I respectfully point out the error of his ways and he wants to fight me. Not so fussed I tell him to boil his privates and eat them, he doesn't seem keen to do so and indicates we will never be friends but anyway, the driving standard on our roads has fallen or am I nuts or just too old???
So what shall I do? I bought a Tuscan thinking I will drive and enjoy as it is not so rare but now the prices are creeping up and Tusky is being subjected to TLC as I just can't help it so I am already starting to think "not in the rain".
I really don't want to drive anything else but looking at a static car just doesn't do it for me. Anyone else have the dilemma?

Oh Chuffing'ell, Time you brought a train set! Get Tango sorted, fix a load of cameras on it for part two Mr. Bond. You know what you tell me - here for a good time! Enjoy! You will have a 'pair of the finest cars!' More than can be said for the prat who 'tried' to carve you up this evening. That W@£$er had no idea what kind of fire he could of been playing with. Enjoy them both while you can, we are here for a short time. You know how much I love that Sag

When I first got my Chimaera and stopped wishing I had spent 40 grand on a DB9, I really really wanted a Sagaris.
But I have done 15000 miles in 18 months in my Chim, have modified it endlessly, tracked it, covered it in stone chips, mice have eaten the carpets, there are marks on the interior from carrying wheels inside the car, and I love it to bits and will take it shopping tomorrow and then fit the passenger side race harnesses, ready for Snetterton on Thursday 10th.
I am embarrassed at car shows, but I am loving my TVR. If I had a Sagaris I would be worrying about putting mileage on it, scratching it and getting it wet. For me, I actually made the right choice. Each to ther own needs.

Drive them John,
They are fantastic forms of transport to be enjoyed in every way but the best in my opinion is only achieved with key in ignition/button pushed, window down and movement.............we only enjoy life once .

That really resonates with me. I finally got a proper fast car (yes, I have driven a big saloon car at 150mph, but that's not what I mean) two years ago at the age of 59. I have turned my life upside down over the past ten years, all because of the realization that life is too short. I now do about ten track days a year and am loving having a car that performs. I swore I would never own a convertible. The roof has rarely been on this winter. They are fantastic forms of transport to be enjoyed in every way but the best in my opinion is only achieved with key in ignition/button pushed, window down and movement.............we only enjoy life once .

So it's your call - did you buy it as an investment, or to drive? Respond accordingly.

Chuck an LS in it, and enjoy the fun of a worthless TVR

A tad cruel

On Topic...
Driving a near perfect car that is special to you, up to the point where it becomes a bit tatty, and may take a few knocks can be a heart breaking thing.
I am sure just about everyone who has owned a TVR from new, or low mileage new condition would agree.
Just watching the rock chip count grow after a respray is painful enough.
On the plus side your Sagaris is probably worth enough, that any crash (God forbid) that didn't kill you, would probably leave it repairable.
Rather, pity the owner of the £7k-£10k Chimaera that knows that any substantial 10-30mph shunt could leave his or her car headed for the breakers.
I am definitely part of the USE IT brigade, especially as TVRs seem so rare (even compared with a Ferrari) that more miles shouldn't knacker the values too much.
Although I almost always go shopping for a high mile car as I know I am going to drive them. I also find people have lots more problems with cars that don't see use than ones which do.

I'm thinking about cleaning that really pristine chassis I had last year...
In the words of Rihanna - shut up and drive!!
They were built to be driven. Dirty Orange is in for an extensive refurb after some lean years, and with 90k on the clock I am very, very happy that she has been driven as much as humanely possible. This will be the case when she comes back later this year.
Anywhere, everywhere, every weather, and all the time.
She has sweltered in the plains of central Spain, scintillated through Southern France, powered to Cornwall from Scotland and back, and nipped along to Costco, B&Q, Tesco, whatever.
Always look on the bright side of life, dum, de dum, dum de dum de dum.
