Warning: cool story bro.

So after sitting on my first ever private reg for 11 months I decided it was time to issue it to a car. Finally got round to filling out the necessary paperwork. Spent best part of an hour trying to find my local DVLA centre as per the form to find they'd all shut at the end of the 2013. Followed new instructions found online to submit form to Swansea.

Fortnight goes by, nothing. I pick up the phone last week to chase. Sit in queue for best part of 20mins, to then get cut off. Finally chased up again on Weds - "We'll get something out to you today sir". ?!?!

Paperwork arrives today. New V5C. All fine. New tax disc also in second envelope. For a completely different private reg that isn't mine!

Thats nothing. We have been waiting for girl friends provisional lisence for about 10 months now. All because she ticked the box saying she had some health problems a number of years ago.

All fine now I may add but still 10 bloody months to get it approved and still haven't heard anything from them even with many phime calls.

It's important to remember that the closue of all the local DVLA offices was justified on the basis of improving Customer Service.

In the past six months I've applied to have two private reg numbers assigned and on both occasions the 'system' has worked flawlessly with all documentation correctly returned in exactly two weeks the first time and under two weeks the second time. Mistakes will, unfortunately, always happen but my recent dealings with DVLA have all been 'spot on'.

I have had to do 3 transfers since the local office closed and all have gone well,the last one all paperwork was back in 8 working days,I think you have been unlucky

My stepsons licence took over 7 weeks for a change of address. Only issued when we phoned.
No explanation, no apologies.

Just waited 4 weeks for new V5 with the wife's personal reg. Still waiting for tax disk and MOT.
