Morning all

My trusty (no really) P38 has started collecting water in the spare tyre well. Nothing else is wet, just the area under the boot lid. Are there any known causes of this or do I need to get in the boot and get the hosepipe out.

It's a common probem, usually comes in from the tailgate. Drill a small drain hole at the lowest point and insert a rubber bung seems to be the most popular approach.

Thanks. I'll get the hose out before the drill, but good to know there is a reconsidered work around!

I've got a vague recollection that there was a modification specified for the seal involving bending the lip a bit and fitting a redesigned seal.

Not very helpful I'm afraid. Mine came with holes drilled in the bottom of the well!

The early models had a drain rubber for the sun roof in the rear n/s wheel arch this gets sealed up with dirt and backflows into the boot as it is a loose fit. Suppose its better than a wet roof liner.
