Fuel filler neck!

What is the best way to resolve the ridiculous Caterham fuel filler neck that doesn't allow you to put fuel in? My new toy has the one with the small internal metal flap and it seems impossible to get a fuel nozzles angled correctly.

You have 3 main options. First is to prize out the flap with a flat head screw driver (or similar) being careful not to lose the flap down the neck, second is to drive around with a plastic funnel in the boot

You're last option is to speak to Caterham and complain and get them to send you the newly designed filler neck and swap it for your one. I've got one and can confirm I've never had any filling issues in any of the main petrol stations.

After dis-assembling and removing the fuel filler from the rear bodywork (very easy), I used a Dremel tool to grind down the three spot welds holding the cone/flap mechanism in the fuel filler tube - done at a significant distance from the car and potential fuel fumes - and then popped it out with a tap from a hammer/old screwdriver. Remove any loose-ish weld remnants, re-assemble, and done.

Also - I sent you an e-mail regarding my interest in acquiring a replacement front ARB, but you may have missed it?

Hi Sean et all, thanks for the advice, will give that ago but have also been offered a swap with an already modified version too. Yep got the mail regarding ARB but still seeing if I can get one made. It may take a while..
