CERBERA PRICES

I'm quite sure it will be priced correctly as there's another 99 4.5 going for £22k. Usually you get what you pay for, there's a 96 4.2 purple one that I viewed over 18 months ago that has gone the rounds with dealers and still isn't sold, and it (was) a shed when I looked at it.

Both look good & the cheaper one is in the spray shop now according to the ad, the only difference I can see is a gap in the history 2010 -2014 with the cheaper one.

The expensive one has done 2100 miles since a Str8Six engine rebuild & clutch in 2012. It's particularly nice to drive and it's paint & full hide interior are immaculate.
The cheaper one is at a price "as is" now, but will probably go up and probably end up on 18" spiders although I think the ride quality on the 17" RL alloys with nitrons is just brilliant. The car has been mapped by Joospeed and is pretty quick. If it doesn't sell, will be taking this to TVRCC Cadwell Park and Zolder.

Seriously mulling over the cheap on at MADS. A chance to bring the old girl home. I originally bought her in 1999 with 900 miles on the clock.
The Tuscan is gone (just not fast enough) and having missed out on my old Red Rose too (sold by Str8six - The blue one) I am feeling nostalgic.

Got a copy of Classic & Sports Cars 2004 in the post today complete with Cerbera SpeedSix feature. Prices quoted (from memory) were SpeedSix - £20k, 4.2 - £24, 4.5 - £26k, with the writer doubting the premium was worth it.
How did they get to those prices? Are they prices for the best examples? PH classifieds certainly don't reflect those prices! Looking through it doesn't seem like there are many 4 figure Cerberas available, most 4.2s seem to be fetching at least 12-13k now. Seem to have gone up by about 2k on average in 4 years.Edited by ukkid35 on Thursday 10th April 22:42
Cerberas like all classic cars have gone up in price over the last few years. If you look at the old posts on here you will find countless examples of people in 2008-2010 buying cheap good cars but now you can't really find anything of quality sub 16k and if you expect top condition expect 20k+.
Like always the 4.5 commands a premium over the 4.2 even though real world performance difference is negligible.

Interesting - I just averaged the asking price of all 4.5 currently for sale on the usual sites. Firstly you have slim pickings, I can only find 8 for sale currently. Secondly is the price - the average asking price of these 8 is £20,250.
That includes a 10k car that requires a new chassis and a 14k car that is a cat d. If we excluded these then the average asking price today is you want to buy a good condition 4.5 is currently £23,000.

I'd say the 4.5 prices have risen much more than 4.2s then. Back when I was buying in 2008 I think the average would have been somewhere in the region of 17-18 and £20k Cerbs were not the norm. That includes a 10k car that requires a new chassis and a 14k car that is a cat d. I imagine from 2008-roughly now has been the period when most Cerberas have required the major work (mainly chassis). I suspect most have now had this done, so during this period you had a larger number requiring work, where as the overall quality available now is higher.
