S1 Rear brake hoses

Hi All, just replaced my rear brake drums at the weekend on my S1. Due to the copper brake pipes looking rather warn I'm looking for an easier replacement (flexible hose). It needs to have male and female threads. I'm only looking to replace the last section of pipe that actually terminates into the brake cylinder it's probably 400-500mm long. Can anyone point me in the right direction regards Chris.

Never seen a flex pipe with female end that would fit onto a male (existing flex pipe) end ?

I wouldn't bother, get replacement pipes made in copper or Kunifer by local motor factor, garage or who ever.



If you are determined to go flexible some one like Stevsons could make you a long flexible to replace yours and the metal pipe in "one go"

Git to agree with Phillpot on that one. It isnt necessarily a good idea to replace the copper pipe with a flexi. Bit puzzled by a 'worn' copper pipe?

Incidentally you will almost certainly need to get the pipe made up. Have look at previous threads on S1 rear brake pipes, they are not standard in that the threads at the ends do differ.

Ok think I will get some made up, when I say worn obviously being copper they are not rotten think the last owner made them up and have more bends than a Grand Prix circuit! I had seen a company called crest motorsport selling some black diamond brake hoses for a Ford Sierra (ref DHK012) and the picture had a hose with female and male ends (female for the connection on the trailing arm and male into the brake cylinder. Stainless steel braided will fit (Aeroquip or similar). Most motorsport places will make to measure.
