Sold my 350z...looking for a fun replacement

Evening all,

Today i agreed a sale on my Nissan 350z 313, owned and loved for 3 great years. I'm after something fun for around 4k to 4.5k, so far my list looks something like this:

Renaultsport clio 197
Renaultsport clio trophy
Honda civic type R EP3
Ford ST 170

I'm after any other suggestions you may have and feedback on thoughts on my list, things to look out for etc.

Beware of rust on the focus. IMO they are great cars, but no way good enough to justify their price. Over £3k often!

Passengered a 197 seems good, although 182 trophy would be my choice. CTR is excellent, but not as fun to tear around corners unlike the clio's are, Vtec is very addictive though.

Have you considered a megane R26?

Edit: Personally I'd get a 306 Gti-6 they are awesome!

I would second a Boxster if you get a bargain, possibly a 944 too.

Both come with the usual "it could turn expensive" but I'm sure the Nissan could have too if it wanted to.

Is the old ST 170 still over three grand, I thought they werent that well regarded and were just banger territory like every other MK1 Focus apart from the RS ?

Having had a look about they are still over 3k for a low miler with solid history.

Not always, but the way some are sold you'd think they were all that much. I went to look at a few with a friend back in 2011, a lot of the cheaper ones were rusty so ones without tend to fetch a premium.

I'd forgot about the pug, last time i looked there were not many and most were battered....Good shout on the megane, will have a look and see what is about for the money

Yeah thats right, but IMO a gti 6 or clio is better in almost every way. And they dont cost nearly as much.

Mint pugs can be found on the owners club for little cash same with clio's (possibly a bit more as they have a bigger following)

Tempting but not just yet...Ideally I'm after something without finance etc as a stop gap while i get some work done at home, the wife's car is up in 11 months and a fiesta with some poke is on her list....the plan is 4k fun hatch for 10-12 months then get in to a 370z

Had anything in on part ex?

Nice old Impreza. At least it'll be reliable and work for you all-year in case the house work takes longer than expected. WRX could be had for that money.

ST170, avoid them like the plague. Gutless, thirsty, horrible gearbox. One of the few cars I have owned that I really disliked.
