My most recent smash :(

Everyone loves a good smash, so ill post up about mine.
Luckily I'm alive, and for the most part will heal.
Here, is what was my pride and joy... 13 plate Yamaha XJR1300
And now...
Was on the A4 my way to bath at around 16:00 on 19th of feburary, overtook a lorry and seemingly (turns out he wasn't in the wrong, just badly positioned) out of nowhere a van appears. Rear ended him at around 40 - 50 i reckon, knocked myself out, then the bike burst into flames! luckily several witnesses dragged me out. I looked quite a mess so straight off to hospital for me! meanwhile the road was closed for the next 5 hours... evening rush hour must have sucked!
Was placed into an induced coma for the next 3 days, woke up rather confused but amazingly was released after a further morphine filled 3 days into the care of friends and family
The insurance company have given me £6500 which isn't bad for a year old with 1500 miles, so only £1500 lost over a year. It seems to be fair from looking through the classifieds. No compensation though as it was my fault. Luckily work are paying me around 75% of my usual wage.
So, the injuries:
Severe case of damaged pride,
Superficial scratches to head and light burns to right arm,
Left wrist open fracture,
Right wrist radius fracture,
Right hand dislocation (apparently dangling by skin and tendons!)
Right side ribs 1 - 9 fractured,
2 x cracked vertebrae,
Left ankle minor nerve damage, (very numb even now)
Only now with my right arm out of cast can I be bothered with the effort of actually using a computer, hence the late post. Left arm should be out soon so hopefully be back to work and back to normal soon
I've been told by various doctors that most of my injuries will completely heal. The only lasting one being my right wrist which will regain only 50% movement, its anyones guess as to whether or not ill be able to ride an unadapted motorcycle again, but I'm hopeful.

And yet there's not a biker out there who doesn't know how dangerous they are, not least because car drivers love nothing more than to tell bikers how dangerous bikes are. All the best with the recovery OP, hope you can get back on two wheels eventually.
