Paintwork damage

So yesterday morning I woke up to this having been done to my car. The Police are dealing with it and are working through CCTV footage. At first I thought it could be brake fluid but having spoken to the Police they think that it was more likely to be paint striper because of how quick it has reacted. 
Satisfyingly the Police are confident that they will make an arrest in connection with this. The car is six months old and up until yesterday it only had one stone chip on the bonnet so at least I can get that fixed now. I'm not posting this looking for sympathy I just want to share the image to let people know that you can't do things like this and always get away with it.

...somebody has a specific grudge against your driving/your car.
Your car is quite unique, with that plate, and so not hard to locate if it lives outside. Have you had any incidents when you were out driving in recent days?
Before, I get flamed by angry posters, I am just asking what others are probably wondering:- What WOULD make somebody risk damaging an expensive car in such a pre-meditated way and potentially getting caught in the act (you dont carry paint stripper on you usually) and a Police record as a result.

Unfortunately so. Even if the colour was a certified 100% match of the existing shade, the finished look of a metallic is still quite dependant on the 'lay' of the flakes. Silver is the worst affected by this as the previous poster mentions.mikecassie said:

Sorry to read that you have had a similar experience without a positive result.But here lies the problem... The police may well do all the hard work and find the person that did it,but then when it gets to court the Judge will give the scum a telling off.
All of his previous convictions of burglary,theft,driving convictions violence records are not taken into account and off he goes.
Makes you want to find Mr Judge's car do the same,own up to it and see what he says and tell him I'm available at anytime to appear in court for my telling off because that's what you just gave Mr scum with a record as long as his arm.
Horrible to see this OP and hope you get it sorted with as little inconvenience as possible. Sorry but I have no faith what so ever even if they catch him/her. Our courts and judge's are on a different planet to the majority of us.
The Police now know or should I say have a person that they want to question in connection to this. I've had a quote for the repair it's £600 to do the bonnet and the bumper, the excess on the insurance is £500 so I'll be swallowing the £600 bill unfortunately.
The car is too long to fit in my garage and I knew this when I bought it, my intention (even before this) is to move house and obviously part of the criteria will be secure parking ideally with a garage big enough to house my car. Things like this annoy me but I really don't let it get me down, ultimately the car will be fixed next week but hopefully the Police will get a result and it will take longer than a week to fix the perpetrators issues!
