Just a quick rant about bloody ebay sellers.
So I've been looking about for a cheap motor under £500ish to put my mileage on.
I've actually won two auctions in the last couple days on ebay, one for a 206 derv for £422 and one on a volvo v40 for £420, and neither of the sellers have responded to my emails and calls.
A waste of my time and theirs, why put a car in a no reserve auction if you have no intention of selling! Boils my p***.

Ive had similar experiences on ebay hence i look at other sites now.
Quite a few cars badly described at 99p no reserve with tax and test so you rub your hands together and think aye up I might grab a bargain runabout here and then with a few days remaining you get a message saying your bid has been cancelled and the item listing has ended!
i think sellers get a bit spooked if they arent seeing any proper bidding activity in the early days so they pull it before it gets to 12 hours to avoid having to sell for less than their heads are telling them the car is worth. if they want £x amount why dont they list it as a buy it now for that amount or set a reserve? I'll tell you why - they dont want to pay the ebay fees for those "extras". Frankly its about time ebay clamped down on multiple offenders.
Also how many times have you watched a car then missed the ending and it went for peanuts! Very frustrating (if the sellers did make contact with the winning bidder that is)......it always happens to me.

I'm having the same fun and games on ebay. If there's a car that takes my eye, I'll email the seller to ask if they're going to let the auction run and if not how much do you want for the car. To be sometimes told that the auction will be left to run its course as they don't have any idea how much it's worth. Then it get withdrawn a couple of days before the end. So you've wasted a couple of days waiting for the auction to run its course for no reason and your back at square one. Frustrating as I have no everyday car to run around in at the minute.
On a side note. PH's classified aren't what they use to be. Filter out the traders and you get very little activity on the private sales. I would ideally like to buy my car from the PH classifieds like I've done may a time in the past.
Autotrader is a faff as you can't search on new listed cars so you have to look at all the same cars again and again. My search has a broad spectrum, So I just can't be assed to look at it a lot of the time.
These are the others I look at: Car and classic, preloved, gumtree and the forums of some particular makes i have my eye on

Price eventually got was £42000 and a bit, and I'd have said the car was really only worth £35000 which is where a friend thought the reserve might be. Non original body style - which replaced another non-original body but the engine was apparently original. Chassis had original number, but very few are original, some dealers in the 40s and 50s offered exchange rebuilt ones (very easy chassis to refurbish).
However, something is only worth what somebody else will pay, and on that date, for that car, the value was £42000
