I'm glad I read that DM article, because I now know:-

The Lamborghini Aventador is powered by a 6.5-litre V12 engine which develops a staggering 700bhp.

It will accelerate from 0-62mph in just 2.9 seconds and go all the way to 217mph – more than three times the speed limit on motorways.

The Daily Mail is a truly terrible paper. Who actually pays for this, or worse who pays to advertise on their website.

This line amused me ‘I have never seen a Lamborghini in such a bad way, and couldn't really believe my eyes or ears when I heard about this crash.’ Its not that bad, although I expect the insurance company will receive an eye watering bill.

Although I agree with you because it gets so many things wrong,and seeing people red arrow some very insensitive remarks does my head in.

But this story will not be covered by very many other newspapers.. Do people want to read about it? Well we all have our own option if we want or not,and those that do may get some pleasure from it.

Sadly it has a very large circulation and is depressingly influential.

No great mystery, often it's simply showing off.

As showing off goes, I find this one of the least offensive types, at least you get to see and hear some wonderful machines.

Additionally it can be true enthusiasts who happen to be in London. Will never forget lining up next to Jay Kay in his Scuderia Spider 16M at the lights by Vauxhall Bridge, they turned green and he gunned it through the gears, fantastic.

The pictures on the Daily Mail website are credited to Alex Penfold and another Supercar spotter. These people literally roam the streets of Knightsbridge with cameras filming the same rich (usually, but not exclusively, Arabs) just driving around.

Clearly they have plenty of money and if I was lucky enough to own a car like that and not have to work a day in my life I'd be up at Silverstone or out in the country blasting about. Not doing repeated 0-40-0 runs through central London whilst being chased by kids on bicycles.

Yes I appreciate that the odd car will just be someone on a day out but I can guarantee this Aventador wasn't one of them.
