I have FINALLY managed to send the chassis away for shot-blasting and when it comes back the task of re-building will begin

First job will be to get the welding done that is required (both outriggers plus whatever else the shot-blasting shows up) - I have someone lined up for this but could do with knowing the size & steel specifications for the outrigger tubes, the 'corner plates' of the outriggers & the seat belt mounts??? Any help out there?

The re-build will be a slow process (aim is to finish summer 2015) as cash flow still a bit tight - amazing how a year out of work seems to have much longer lasting effects than 'just' the year - BUT I hung to the S & now will enjoy my time putting her back together - I will no doubt have lots of questions as even with all the photos I took I won't remember where everything goes - there'll be lots of & lots of & plenty of but I will get there in the end

Back from the shot-blasters & no additional signs of holes - so just the outriggers to sort & then on with painting

Yeah, pretty much...going with Por15 primer (a couple of coats or so) & then good old red smooth hammerite

Are you sure the Por and Hammerite will be compatible? I would stick with Por as a "system" and use their top coat as well (what ever it is). Not used Por myself but it has a good name and I think its more resilient to stone chips than Hammerite.

I think it is - I've read a post on here of someone else (can't recall who) using this combination when doing their chassis - 3 coats of Por & 2 of Hammerite I think???? I will be testing on 'bracket' first thought just to check before setting to on the main chassis & other parts

If I remember correctly, there is a tie coat by Por that will provide a good base for a top layer. It would surely give the best chance for it to adhere properly.

Also, good luck with the rebuild, glad it's all coming back together again.

Hi Alan - you could try Motorcool in Stockton on Tees, I had mine blasted there and also had a few parts blasted and powder coated.

Hi Alan

It was done by Wakefield Sandblasting based at Horbury Bridge. He's a small business & came & picked up the chassis & all the bits, took them away & brought them back a week later. Great service, good job for what I required at an excellent price . He doesn't do any coating, just the grit blasting.
