To be fair to the organisers, it's a UCI cat 2.1 race so its pegged at eight days long and logistically you can't do much in that time frame without the right level of infrastructure and associated budget.

Like it says in the title, it's the "Tour of Britain". Maybe the organisers know what the referendum result is going to be, hence why there is no detour into the independent nation of Scotland

Anyway. It's coming to Camberley, so I frankly couldn't give a stuff about the places it ain't going.

I was pleasantly surprised when I heard one of the stages was starting in Camberley, quite looking forward to seeing them whizzing through the town although I fear I might lose a few of my Strava KOMs

Delighted with that route. One stage starts near the house I am buying. Passes where I am currently living, and takes in a big lump of my commute and weekend riding (note that the stage constitutes a large part of them, they do not constitute a large part of the stage!)

You can't please every region every year!

It barely goes through Surrey which is amazing considering everything else, but I'm pleased its not for once, I'll go and watch it on the way down to Brighton somewhere.

I would imagine the Western bias will be something to do with Yorkshire having the TdF roll out.
But it also comes down to which towns are the highest bidders.

I was spoilt in 2007 when it finished in Southampton, but the closes I'll get this year is Devizes, even that will be a hundred mile round trip, hardly worth it to see them flash pass

Move to Devon, it's been here eight years on the bounce apparently. Looking forward to this year's Exmouth/Exeter stage as I missed the Sidmouth/Dartmoor one last year due to work. This year's looks a reverse of the 2011 stage where Cav led out Renshaw for the win when they were at HTC, so a day off's now booked to catch the start and finish.

loving stage 7, passes within 10 miles of here and goes up a few local bad boys, the climb out of Eastbourne towards Beachy Head is a great place for an attack and ofc Ditchling Beacon. The looping nature of the course means the chance to watch and then move to another spot too.
Some local guys are going to have their KoM's crushed

Can't really tell what route it'll take from Camberley.. Local enough to pop over for a litter watch though.

not familiar with the 1st half but looks like Uckfield>either under Blackboys or through Buxted towards Heathfield>Horam>Husrtmoceaux>across Pevensey flats (lovely fast flat road!)>Eastbourne>Beachyhead>Newhaven>then onto roads less familiar to me to swing towards Ditchling.
No long climbs (for pro's) but plenty of steep sections hitting 18-20% in places and avaeraging 8-9% over 2k

The reaction from the cycling world seems to be good with the short transfers being appreciated. Hopefully the route will explore different areas of Britain each year. Of course, local councils need to provide some funding too, so lobbying your council may get the race to visit.
