Bubbles have just started to appear on my Nissan Patrol wheel arches.
It's a pretty old car but I do like it and I can see myself keeping it a while.
Got a quote for £400 to get them resprayed, but am I just better off leaving them, letting them get rusty and then just replace them in a year or two. It's the kind of car that doesn't look terrible with a bit of rust.
What I mean is, if these just get tarted up now, will it only just come back soon anyway?
Anyone had rusty arches resprayed?fixed that have stayed fixed, or is it just fighting the inevitable of new arches, and really just a waste of money?

In my experience there's no point in respraying. The rust will be back in weeks or months, depending on the thickness of the paint. You can get it treated to slow the process, but the final cosmetic bit is what you do just before you sell ...
It can be sorted properly if caught early enough. If you let them rot out then of course new metal can be welded in, but short of a total strip down and chemical dipping, you'll never get any corrosion protection on the inside of the bodywork where the welds were.
Get it done now, tell the bodyshop you want them done properly, as opposed to a tart-up for selling and they'll charge you an extra couple of manhours making sure that metal is spotless before recoating. It'll be money well spent if you do want to keep the car a while.
