I would have told them to stuff it, if they can suddenly drop their price by 50% why didnt they quote you that in the first place.

I always take the attitude that companies that do that don't deserve your business. It's just an admission on their part that they were trying to take the proverbial!!

I've just had my renewal..............ready for this..........£347. The car is garaged, 5000 miles pa and I'm 47 and live in a reasonable area.

I'm very curious to see what I can get it for. I remember a thread a while back which indicated that I should be able to get it for less than £150.

Yes, it is upsetting when they offer to beat a quote after the initial offer, because someone else is offering a better deal. It gives me the feeling I'm being diddled. Why couldn't they give the better offer first? Especially with something like an insurance policy, when, what they are actually selling is a bit of paper based on probabilities, statistics and risk.

Yes, but what they are giving away if they reduce the cost, is their profit.....and they're greedy b********.

I knew my premium was high last year but I just wanted to get the car on the road. I am well up for the haggle this year though!!

Funny, last year , when I was just about to by the car I was turned down for insurance because I hadn't had a performance car in the last 12 months! Actually, I had sold my Cerbera about 13 months beforehand. Insurance is a strange business but NEVER forget it is solely about making money!

I'm with Peter D. James.

Agreed £6k value, UNLIMITED mileage, EU wide breakdown etc and under £180 (cant remember the exact figure) Always a pleasure to deal with.

I'm happy with them.

So I've now sorted my insurance renewal. Boy, the phones are busy on a Saturday morning!!

So, the renewal was going to be an outrageous £347.

I've tweeked my requirements a bit in that it's now 3000 pa instead of 5000.

The renewal, with RH, is £111 and that includes legal, salvage retention and Uk and euro breakdown cover. With a £150 XS.

Much happier than I was when I got my renewal documents through.

I didn't even get a revised quote from my existing insurer because he wouldn't take details via email and wanted me to phone him. The trouble is I don't have time to phone during the working week and he opens only 9-5 Monday-Friday. He must be doing well!!

Never had to shop around, as RH always send me their best quote when renewal is due.

I know of a couple of chaps who've had to claim via RH, who had very positive experiences.

That sounds good then. If that's the attitude they take then they are likely to retain my business next year.

My view is none of them seem to want to retain business as they all hike up the price after year one, for me its been a yo yo each year, back with classic line at present, but been through Footman James, Adrian flux, to name a couple. Tobz just changed from admiral multi car coz they're getting greedy again so I've left them too with my Octavia. Same applies to house insurance, you've got check them out every year now , smarmy leeches most em.
