yellow gunge round oil filler cap on 997 c2s?

Hi

I was topping up the oil and noticed a small amount of yellowish gunge round the top of the oil filler pipe. The cap was quite stiff to get off, I have not topped up the oil since it was serviced by Porsche Kendal last May and it was down just one bar. The car is a 997 07 plate c2s with nearly 35,000 on the clock, full service history and owned by me for last 5 years so I know it has a gentle life. It is under OPC warranty.

Any thoughts please?

Normal.

Unless there is loads of it, it's likely to be caused by condensation from engine heating and cooling, which is normal.

Are you making lots of short journeys? This may be the cause.

Normal mayonnaise - emulsified oil and water often due to oil not getting up to high enough temp to evaporate water produced by combustion ( ie short journey as mentioned before).

Cheers, I have a short journey to the office of about 7 miles and the wife potters about in it so that is probably the cause.
