It's rush hour on the outskirts of Leamington Spa. The local car factory has just disgorged a large proportion of its workforce onto the local roads and I'm just tootling home after a day out.

On one of the major routes in the area, I run into (not literally...) a slow-moving queue; I can see it stretches for about a mile into the distance and know that it's not just volume of traffic. We make slow progress (and the queue grows rapidly behind me, must be c.2 miles now) and as I approach the front of the queue, I spot the problem. Or rather - the problems: two large horses being ridden side-by-side with the riders showing not a care in the world. Jolly fking hockey-sticks, what?

Who the juddering fk do these selfish, arrogant tts think they are? On a major trunk road at rush hour without even the decency to ride in single file, or on the (ample) verges. Why not keep to the unclassified rural roads when it's busy?

Or - better still - why don't they ride on the bd Bridleways which they successfully had downgraded from RUPPs some years ago to spoil the leisure activities of powered off-roaders? Bridleways; only for horses? Never seen one on a bloody bridleway yet! Main roads - that's where they are!

Clots, dolts, total ing imbeciles; weapons-grade upper-class stupid Berkshire-hunts with absolutely no thought for anyone else except themselves. fk the rest of the world, it's a sunny day let's go for a hack.

I feel your pain. When much younger I was riding my RD350LC down a country lane near leamington spa, went around a bend a little fast (below the limit, not always safe..I was young). And there 3 horses side by side facing me, and suddenly I traveling sideways with the back wheel locked. No idea how I missed them, but they seemed angry. Not my fault. The Road is only wide enough for one horse and half a car, so why go three abreast ?

Oh no, the horsey types will be along soon to tell you how wrong you are and they have priority over all cars because the walking glue sticks were invented before cars. They have no sense of humour or reality for that matter.

Actually it was your fault, what if it was a tractor and you ran into the plough attachment?

Dude - Go hug a bunny. Seriously - you will live longer.

You have absolutely no idea what occurred that they are having to ride in rush hour. Trust me - they don't want to be out in rush hour either.
a/ They are selfish ****** out to ruin your life.
b/ Something else has happened - and they have no choice.

They are riding side by side as it is safer for the horses to see each other.
All the traffic noise can spook the horses - and is dangerous for all involved.

Learn some patience. I'm sure you are probably a decent bloke in real life - and you only lost a few minutes.

^^^^^Listen to this man. He speaks good sense.

And then try sitting eight foot of the ground on half a ton of bad-tempered dog food. It will give you new respect for the people who ride horses and you will never - never - under-estimate them again.

I last went on a horse when I was eight years old, but I have seen enough to know that riders do not mix with cars unless they absolutely have to. Because most car drivers are inconsiderate tts when faced with a horse. And riding two abreast is absolutely the only safe way to ride on the highway.

I would add that the riders are internally stting a brick praying that their isn't an angry twunt prepared to rev the nuts of the car, blast the horn or similar. Because bad st happens.

Their "not a care in the world" - will be making small talk will be to reassure each other in a very uncomfortable situation.

If you are riding a horse in rush hour then you are either a 3.14key or you have a genuine reason. You don't do that unless you have too.

And there are a serious amount of us horsists on PH so this probably won't go the way you thought.

I agree with the OP.

Horse riding is odd in the first place - why would you want to straddle a large animal let alone attempt to guide it down a busy road?

Self gratifying jibberish for want to be posh bints.

In general and as a breed, horsey people are some of the most inconsiderate people you will ever meet. They aren't all bad, far from it, but there are some utter selfish tts that have horses who assume the whole world revolves around their hobby.

I am always considerate to horse riders and get a thankyou for passing wide and slow but i still think the whole concept is from the dark ages.

You make a seat for the animal, sit on it and train it to go in a direction you want it to... then you take them down the road and inflict misery on everybody for the duration of your journey...

Got to agree with this! As said I always give horses plenty of room, slow down and even pull my clutch in when on my bike, but the riders (abit like the cyclisties) do think the world revolves around their little ride.

And why the fk, as mentioned, would something have happened which meant they had to take their horses out, at rush hour, on a very busy road two abreast?!

At least think of the horses you inconsiderate twerps!
