Truck Speed Limiters

Currently new trucks in UK are given 56mph speed limiters in line with the eu 90 km/h speed limit
is it permitted to remove this speed limiters, or at least increase it to 60mph inline with the actual speed limit ?
do older truck which were sold with a 60mph limiter or no limiter at all have to have the same 56mph limit these days?

More likely imagining it. Think it's around K-reg time that limiters came in and you won't see many trucks of that age on our roads. Irish can do 60 legally but rest of Europe is 85kmh with a tolerance to 90.Or 75mph with a non GB sticker
If you're seeing UK trucks over 56mph then it's more likely they've got weight on and are on the overrun with eco-roll set (basically puts the truck into neutral). Those of us that aren't bothered about overspeed infringements will happily let it run to 65-70 down slopes.

Why would a professional driver be "not bothered" about speeding? It will be clearly recorded by the vehicle tachograph and subject to inspection by DVSA as well as any employer.

I was passed by a Lithuanian-plated lorry on the downhill stretch of the M4 outside of Cardiff, just after the end of the old 50mph bit. I was passing slow-moving traffic to the left in the middle lane at 65-ish and gradually accelerating, he passed me in the right-hand lane at probably around 90.

Does anyone else think it would be good for lorries to have a "push to pass" button, that raises their limiter by a few mph for, say, 15 seconds? It would help to cut down on the amount of time required for overtaking other lorries and in turn help reduce motorway/dual carriageway congestion, with minimal increase in risk/severity of accidents. Not sure how it could be policed to avoid abuse mind.

then the button would just be glued down tho lolOn a couple of occasions I've been overtaken by UK-registered lorries whilst I've been driving at 70. One was just the tractor unit, the other pulling an empty curtainsider with the curtains tied back.
Guessing the limiters are fairly easy to bypass, but what about the tacho? Or are there circumstances under which one can drive a lorry without a tacho?
