Looking to change the exhaust on my car, a 1980 2.8i Tasmin FHC.
Would the Langford system fit ( the post Sept 1981 exhaust system ) or was the tub modified to accommodate the new design.
Graham.

Hi Mate...I think it might if you had the complete system from downpipes to tailpipes...Don't think the tub was modified...Ziga

I can't see how the silencers would fit. They either clash with the underside of the tub or the chassis. The original single silencer fits snugly into a central recess in the tub! If they are slung underneath, then I would have thought their would be a serious ground clearance issue in the centre of the car.

Originally on my 1982 280i there was the "Langford system"..The downpipes ran towards the middle and then there were two rectangle boxes under the seat positions...Eventually they ended up being run straight back from the downpipes towards the tailpipes with just a cherry bomb in the middle..I should imagine with a bit of thought and a good exhaust fitter you would be able to achieve anything...Ziga

Thanks for your responses, but I think I need to look at one on early car installed. The biggest issue for me is that the underseat boxes would have to be located below the lowest chassis rail and would be forever grounding.

Graham.
