outlook express

I turned on my pc this morning to find outlook express freezing on the blue splash screen. i re-installed it but still no luck. i thought this could have been down to my 1GB+ mailbox but everything was running fine yesterday. has this happened to anyone / does anyone know a fix for this?

i've temporarily had to import all emails to mozilla thunderbird but i'm not too keen on it.
