Looks like they have the cash too, any chance they could shake things up a bit?

He's Bernie's kind of team owner. Convictions for tax evasion and intimidating witnesses. He'll fit in nicely ;-)

Teams come and teams go. Still, always interesting to see it happen.

Nothing like a warm welcome and a bit of enthusiasm is there?.

Welcome to PH 2014 style.

Their engine choice would be interesting, maybe it would herald the return of the Cosworth?

Was he involved in the Beatrice team of the mid 1980s?

The Haas family's last F1 foray (father Carl in the 1980s)

1985-1986 Force Lola-Beatrice. Hart and Ford Turbos used.

Best result in 1986, Alan Jones 4th Italian GP, only 2 other points finishes over the two years.

Mediocre results considering that at one point they employed both Adrian Newey and Ross Brawn.

Gene Haas (this story) is not related to Carl Haas from the 80s

I don't think whatever happened 30 years ago is really relevant with regards to team ownership is it.

It'd be very interesting to see how they get on.

I was just curious to know if there was a connection between the two Haas F1 enterprises. Nothing wrong with that, is there?

(I like history - even if you don't).

and certainly with F1 teams most of them can trace their roots back 30 - 40 years.

Some even longer. McLaren dates back to the early 1960s and Ferrari of course, all the way back to the pre-war Alfa Romeo days.

Don't forget Penske and Scarab - also US F1 outfits. Penske even won a race.

well, Watson's special set of tyre won the race. Apparently they were amazing. He qualified on them, won the race on them, then qualified for the Dutch GP on them before they gave up the ghost.

one of those rare occasions where hand made tyres get allocated to a set and all 4 are top notch items.
