I am very dubious about the safety of the technology used in these new cars. I am sure some of these recovery systems must generate tremendous amounts of heat.

Not clear from the report. It states a milling machine was damaged. It doesn't say that the fire was caused by a milling machine.

Slightly perverse perhaps I have to admit the irony in the headline amused me- "Caterham Formula 1 fire: Seven taken to hospital"
I did briefly think of a toasted Roadsport waiting at A&E :-)
