Does anyone know where you can purchase a plastic spare key for the Vantage (2009) as my local dealer appears only to be able to sell the chunky glass keys??????

They appear on Ebay from time to time. Make sure it's new with the programming code and the correct frequency for the UK. It's a dealer job to programme to the car.

I've checked ebay today no spare key, however a site called astonmartin bits have the keys for £125 each! Not sure it that's a good or bad price?

My car (MY09) came with 1 glass and 2 plastic keys (no extra charge for the 2nd plastic key), plus the extra emergency key. I'm in the US -- do the UK cars come only with one plastic key?

Here in the US you can but the plastic key from the dealer. The price is ridiculous, but you can buy them.

Aston Martin should have introduced a smart key instead of the glass ECU. They could have retained the original start button and the risk of damaging the ECU/Centre Console would have been reduced, especially if kept in one of those "cheap" £75 leather pouches! beer

Bit of a joke you can buy a key in the States and not one here where the dam things are made!!!

Given that the plastic keys cost close to $700 here, and given how fast the buttons on these things wear out, its more cost effective to use the glass keys.

Hi Phil - I have a spare. PM me your email address and I will send a photo to make sure it's the same plastic key.

Thanks

I think I can answer that.

As I expect you know, the glass key, Emotion Control Unit, you couldn't make it up, was introduced with the 4.7. At delivery time of the early 4.7s, the glass keys were not ready. So, two plastic keys were provided and the glass keys were issued later.

That was what I was told. It sounds possible.

That rings a bell; reviews of early DBSs mentioned the glass key not being ready.
