Which side is your fuel cap?

Standing in a queue at a petrol station made me wonder - which side is prevalent. From what I've seen, it's the left. What about you?

Right side, or off side if you like, it's British though, I think the filling side is down to what marque it is, ie Renno, left side, since most of the their cars are produced as L/H drive, more convenient to driver when filling up.
Might have that wrong though.

It does not matter left or right as the filler will still reach left or right, who'd have thought eh?
However most people seem to be unaware of this and queue until the next pump is avaiable on their imaginary required side.

Left. It is in the boot though and I have to convince the button pusher that I'm not pouring it into a milk bottle or something when I go to a new petrol station. God bless pay at pump

On the right on both my vehicles. My van (Peugeot Partner Combi) is in front of the rear wheel so almost impossible to reach unless I use the correct size pump.

Are exhaust (assuming there is just one exit) always on the opposite side to the fuel filler?

Right side on my BMW. Left on OH's Hyundai Coupe

Previous cars have been on Drivers side focus mk1 & Mk2.



Interestingly I never knew until a few years ago that whatever side the handle is shown on the pump on your fuel gauge, is the side it is on the car. (don't know about electronic fuel gauges tho as never had them)

I'm sure we've had this topic before and the outcome was that it tends to be on the opposite side to the exhaust, which in turn will be on the off-side for the manufacturer's home market. I think...although there will of course now be hundreds of exceptions posted.

Never bothers me, most petrol stations reach and saves queuing for too long.

You have got it wrong. It's "Renault".

I said RIGHT, but I take great pleasure in finding an empty place ,where all can't fill on that side and taking the hose over the back. I see folks saying"WHY didn't I think of that " on a regular basis. Perhaps we need a poll " WHY DON'T YOU FILL FROM ANY SIDE"

You have got it wrong. It's "Renault".

..and Renaults all have the filler on the right.
