Play in the forks.

I've got a Roady with carbon frame and forks. I've noticed a bit of front to back play in the forks. Is this normal, or should I be bending someone's ear when it's in for its 6 week shakedown service tomorrow?

if you hold the front brake and rock the bike back and forth and you are getting a little play/lurch type movement the likely cause is your top cap needs tightening. No biggie just an allen key and not too hard (there should be a NM marking on the top cap)

Probably the headset crown has settled in and just needs a slight nip up. Not rocket science, just undo the stem bolts attached to the steerer and tighten the top cap bolt a tiny bit and then do the stem bolts back up.

As above, but could also be play in the brake blocks.
This is more noticeable on disk brakes, but can happen on calliper brakes too.
