Car Insurance. Freeze question

I've just sold my wife's car and i was wondering what's the best way to cash in with her car insurance.
She's insured with Elephant who want £47.5 for a cancellation fee + £5 admin.
Alternatively the chap at Elephant said they could 'freeze' the policy until the end of the policy date. Then she would get an the full years no claims and they would refund her for all the unused days when the policy date came up...
Now that sounds too good to be true or did i mis-hear the nice indian chap on the telephone?
Anybody had any real experiences?
