I found Nitrons too stiff for comfortable road use. I'd get new Bilstiens on standard springs if I had my time over.
How soft are the shocks set? Mine were a bit firm (with Eibach springs) but after Str8Six dropped them down to around 8 clicks from soft on the front and 6 on the rear the car rides perfectly - couldnt be better IMO without redesigning the car.Not to hijack, but, anyone got any tips/experience on Protech set up? Recently fitted before I acquired the car and just feels a bit soft, at rear especially. Hits the bump stops quite easily and generally just a bit "squishy"... I haven't checked where the settings are at yet, does anyone have any idea of a default sort of setting as a guide?

Fitted my Protech's 2 years ago then paid someone to "fine tune" them, saved me a couple of hundred quid.....It still hits the bump stops and it still makes me cringe every time it happens!! Got the rears set to 11 clicks out of 13 (iirc), so not ideal, but overall for the money not a bad compromise. I will eventually upgrade them, but to what I'm not sure at the moment.

Hi, I would suspect your ride height is to blame and not the shocks. Most T350's Sag's etc, I see are far too low. TVR supplied them with a higher ride height and dealers lowered them. Also Owners lower them so they 'look better', this inhibits the travel on the shocks etc, so no wonder you hit the bump stops. I have the 600 series Protechs, with 350 and 400 spring rates. I used to have issues with grounding out, when I fitted them, as the ride height was too low. I then got CofG to set the geo up, made no comment on ride height, and low and behold, it was raised for optimal performance and i've never had an issue since :P This also goes in tandom with using the correct tyre pressues (setup for your car) and not 24 which seems to be the standard response.
The Protechs were very cost effective, less blingy than the nitrons but just as effective.
Dale, I put nitrous on mine three years ago. I've only tracked it once but tbh, the adjustment in the shocks is amazing. If the future Mrs Ashcroft comes out in the car, I can make the ride a touch softer to suit, or if we load up with luggage and go on a trip, can dial a couple of clicks in to account for extra load and stop the 255 rears from rubbing when laden.
Yes, they were a lot of dough (about a grand iirc), but they transformed the ride. No more crashiness. I'll look out the invoice and check spring rates if you're interested in knowing more - ordered them through Power, fitted myself ahead of a service to allow for prompt geo.
Depends on how much you are prepared to spend......

My Protechs were fitted last year and the ride height was lowered. It looked fantastic but bottomed out all over the place when pressing on. I raised the ride height and bumped the clicks upto 10 and it made a world of difference. The springs and dampers now have enough movement to do what they were supposed to do.
(My car is a Chim but still on Protechs and the principle stands).
Cheers for the replies, sounds about right. Wheels catch the arches with a noise that makes me wince! Standard tyres and wheels as well... I'll investigate properly soon as the car has largely been stored away over winter. Going for a service as well in a few weeks. I had a T350 in the past and don't think I can remember bottoming it out. I don't think I've put on that much weight since then!?......
Apart from that though they do feel pretty good.
