Gents

I dropped my PAS rack into Kiley Clinton in Birmingham this morning. Great guys and very helpfull.

I had a chat with them about the rarity of the Cortina PAS rack. They informed me they have 5 complete racks fully refurbed and ready to go!

They also have a number of units awaiting refurb. So if you need one let me know.

They also offer the service of providing a complete kit for a Wedge if I can provide a sample of the brakets etc required for mounting. so if anyone has a set in bit I could borrow that would be good.

Prices

Complete steering rack £200
Steering column UJ's around £30 (This is half what I paid from a TVR specialist)
New lower Colum and UJ £60
Ford Rack refurb £125
TVR Chimera etc rack refurm £295
Returm postage £12

All prices plus vat.

Rodger is the Guy to talk to. Or give me a shout if you want anymore details or can provide a loan system mounting kit?

Karl.

Well the rack itself bolts straight to two drilled plates on the chassis (some cars have two sets of holes to allow for alternate racks); the PAS pump can mount in one of three (or maybe four) ways depending on which engine. The 280 often has the pump high up on the RHS but mounted 'backwards' (so the pulley faces the engine).
The V8 can have the pump low down on the LHS or high up on the LHS; the high version uses a TVR-bodgified bracket that hangs off the front of the cylinder head. It could probably be done neater.

Interesting price for curvycar rack refurb, wonder why it's more than twice the price of a Ford rack refurb

Hi Ian

Yep the rack mount is no problem apart from the slight dent required to clear the chassis.

But If I could get my hands on a pump mounting bracket for each car Rodger is confident he can provide a fully refurbed rack and pump set for a very reasonable price.

I know PAS is not for everyone but this route for those intereted has got to be better than the other option of cutting down the steering column and welding in a Corsa module?

I'll probably stick with the Citroen pump now its in. But I wouls think most people would prefer the original SD1 setup if bracketry can be sorted?

Cheers Karl

Cheers Karl,

That would explain the price difference !!

Regarding your conversion kit idea, I will have an SD1 type pump & bracket available, I was going to cut the bracket up as part of it is used for my crank sensor but I can easily replicate the bit I need.

I'll phone you during the week. I was bit tied up in meetings etc. yesterday
