The only thing I can think of is returning a hired car you covered in st. If you are returning it a car wash might be quick and cheap?

Bright blue Volvo R-Design is a magnet for bird st. Went for Sunday lunch at a local country pub and had to park near to, but not under, several trees. Came out a couple of hours later to find 30 - 40 droppings over roof, bonnet and side.

6pm Sunday night so even the poles had finished. Had a 100 mile drive to an overnight hotel then seeing customers all the next day so no opportunity to clean it properly.

I made the bad decision to run it through a car wash. No damage to the paint but it ripped the rear wiper off and the bird st had already damaged the lacquer.

In my case though they paid the invoice immediately for the rear wiper.

Having seen the permanent effects of bird poo on a black car I would be in a panic to wash the car if it was one I cared about.

I've been known to wash bird poo off the bonnet of my car at 6:45am when it was covered in 10-15 big drops of bird mess. I was going away for the weekend, so I did it to avoid it drying and ruining the paint.

If it's a working car ie Chauffering.

Mine gets lots of emergency washes, all by me in 10 minutes of frantic activity, bugger the swirl marks, in the wet, in the dark, in the cold, just get it looking presentable.

It is a company car and I had to visit a client unexpectedly... We are expected to arrive to clean cars....so didn't have much of a choice....

A company car that I don't own is going through the wash every time, it's not my paint at the end of the day. My own motor gets treated more gently than her indoors!

I didn't really understand that thread, but I figured if I said that anyone who cared about swirl marks wouldn't even contemplate going through an automated car wash, I would be labelled a troll. If you aren't fussed the car will get swirls eventually anyway.

If you need to clean off bird dirt asap, carry a bottle of quick detailer and a microfibre in the boot. Dissolves and cleans it off no sweat - works well on tree sap too.

Surely the whole point in a hire car is to get it as dirty as possible and return it as someone else's problem?

I'm a fairly quick runner; especially when yet again, seagulls have strafed the car or van.

I once left a turd (I hadn't seen it) on the bonnet of a black car and it was near impossible to get off.

If a bird turd is mostly white - easy to get off. If it's mostly or all brown - absolute concrete style paint ruination. Removed IMMEDIATELY. One day I had to wash the car THREE times. Sometimes it's fine for a week. I HATE seagulls...
