Pentax Optio is Dead

I bought a little Optio RZ10 a couple of years ago. It was only for work, boats and boaty things, and not really used much.

Just refreshed the battery and it's gone deaded. Duff.

Why?

I have an ancient and battered Optio for which the original and 2 non-Pentax batteries seem to have stopped charging. They were, in so far as it was possible to control, used in rotation so each would have been charged a few times and in between uses would have done nothing much. They are all about the same age which by the time of rapid onset failure was about 6 years.

Try a new battery - should be available for not very much from third party sources.

If you are unlucky it won't be the battery but a camera problem. Given what you have used it for is there any possibility that water has got in? If so (even a small amount) the chances are that the circuit board(s) have been attacked.

Looking that way. Blatting around on raceboats can't be good for the poor devils.

I suppose E-bay is the best deal for batt?

It's the shutter and lens/tele I feel feel sorry for.

I have an Optio 430RS, which is now about 15 years old. The same thing happened to me back in February this year, so I bought a battery from eBay for £4, problem solved.
