Just out of curiousity, are Nobles fitted with a rev limiter?

Yes, I think every modern car is. M12's is 7200rpm IIRC.

Yep and it has a nice soft cut unlike the one in my Elise which felt like the engine had just fallen out.

Oh yes, hard cut limiters have a very "just hit a brick-wall" feel to them

Soft cut/hard cut?

One software and the other hardware?

Ash, I believe this means a smooth, graduated (but quick) reduction in revs (eg: soft) versus an immidiate cutoff (hard). Soft is best!

The soft cut usually kicks in when you go over the rev limit by just a few RPM. The ECU will retard the ignition of every 3rd ignition spark to zero degrees. By doing this you have a nice smooth rev limit as the engine will have trouble reving past this point due to the regular ignition retanrdation.

The hard cut limiter kicks in when the rev limit is increased by more than just a few hundred RPM. When in a low gear, it is easy to overpower the soft-cut limiter, and so the hard-cut limiter will cut all fuel and ignition sparks until the engine falls below the hard-cut limiter threshold again.

In simple terms this is when it goes, "BBBBBBLLLLLLAAAAAA-BLA-BLA-BLA-BLA-BLA-BLA!"

Dan,
You can't be serious! Mine feels like I'm going to break my nose on the steering wheel in first gear!

Thanks

So what is the dial on the far right?

Seems to be linked to the right pedal and the needle rapidly shoots to the left when you put your right pedal down hard!

Anyone else experience this?

You should have seen my EVO-6. You could go from F to E in minutes.
