What are the good BMX's today?

When I was a young man I rode a Diamondback Silver Streak and then the Formula One.

I also had a Raleigh Mag Burner along the way too.

My son who's 7 and a half has an islabike beinn 24 which he comes out on with me but I would like to get him a BMX as I used to love my and you can throw them around a bit more.

I know they still do Diamondback BMX's but is there another brand out there now which is a better bet?

I used to know about my BMX's but I'm totally out of touch with them now.

Budget is anything up to £ 450 or higher if it really is worth it,

My DB Formula One was very light, are the new bikes lighter? I'd of hoped so!

I put some money in the pot to help buy my Godson one of these at Christmas



He's a tall 6 year old and is just getting the hang of it and hopefully he won't outgrow it any time soon. It's an 18'' wheel and has an aluminium frame so is nice and light(if expensive!). I don't know how tall your lad is so don't know if he's ready for a full size BMX yet. I can measure my Godson if you like to give you some idea.
