Hi guys and girls,

Ive been having problems with really foul smelling gas, paler than normal stools and brain fog for about 6 months now.

Ive had a celiac blood test which came back negative.

When ive drank the night before the gas is absolutely unbearable it makes me sick smelling it, but usually its not too bad but its not normal, i also have excessive flatulence and my stool is always soft/sticky and slightly pale.

Help

What's your diet like? And are you stressed at work or in your life in general?

You need to see a doctor. Simple as that. Get checked out asap. Could be "IBS" or something similar.

my diets pretty good, dont eat much sweet stuff or bread etc etc, eat a decent amount of veg. Erm i get stressed a little bit at times but nothing out of the ordinary and my stool is always soft/sticky and im always tired.

Ive been to the gp they just try and brand you with IBS but my symptoms dont match ibs well the foggy brain and sticky stool/pale brown colour.

I was told I probably had IBS by a GP. No cure, just get on with it.

I think you need to pester your GP for a more thorough investigation.

Cancer is rare in young men, but I personally know three under the age of 40 who were continually fobbed off by their GPs that their symptoms were 'just IBS'.

Now all dead from colon cancer that went undetected until it was too late.

I don't want to worry you unduly, but if it is cancer, the earlier this is detected, the less treatment you will need.

bloody hell, I think there should be some massive lawsuits there, and I'm not one for suing people, but if someone in my family had this, i would sue the doctor for every penny they had as its just clearly negligence and not doing there job properly or they're just fking st and shouldn't be in the job.

i know money will not bring the person back, but think of it as a 'being an absolutely st and useless doctor' tax

IBS is an umbrella term for lots of conditions in the bowel, including we're not sure,i was lucky having a gp who sent me for loads of tests, there seems to be a lot of people now with digestive probs,1 in 5 have IBS,don't know if it's stress, fast living, poor diet but if you're suffering it can be a long process to discover the problem unfortunately, hope it goes well for you.

Go to your Doctor. Get him to focus on your pancreas. Do not leave until you get a referral to a pancreas specialist.

The problem bit is the GP not being sure and then not bothering to do anything about it.

If so many people suffer, it should be high on their priority list.

of course, it's not like they can fix anything, in fact they're just nosey fkers aren't they and occasionally they molest you for the fun of it.
Did yu actually think before you typed that or did you just think because there's no cure for IBS then the GP should have fixed it with a magic potion instead?

I was just gonna post up a similar question myself!

Although my biggest problem is blood in stool. Been going on for months now.

I have a light headedness feeling as well. Up until now, thought it was unrelated, but after doing lot of research, at first I thought it was IBS, but now i'm thinking I may have developed a wheat/gluten intolerance as one of the symptoms for this is light headedness.

Besides cutting out wheat/gluten completely, is there another reliable way to determine this???

(I been to see my GP BTW, and he has referred me to a 'specialist' at the hospital, for which there is a 6 month waiting list!)

The problem is some people have lesser symptoms than others, occasional diarrhoea, nausea, never seeming to fit a pattern so they just put up with it rather than bothering their gp.If you had suffered the pain i had you would have had to have it investigated,i was lucky to get the 1 gp in about 8 in the practice who took me seriously,my wife on the other hand has seen gp's in the same practice who are in the wrong job.Although some earlier comments relate to fatalities it's usually not a death sentence so perhaps this is why some gp's are a bit more reluctant than others to have it further investigated.

A blood test can reveal gluten intolerance, not always conclusive, trial and error with your food intake is a good starting point if you're waiting to see a specialist.
