Need to move my stripped chassis to the powdercoaters next week to be blasted, then to Sheffield to be mended and then back to powdercoaters followed by a final journey back home.
Has anyone transported one on the roof of a car? I have a V70 with roof rails and cross bars but think the weight of the chassis might be a bit much.
I can borrow a trailer from a friend but its a mission each time i need it and it will be on four seperate occasions.
I saw on the classics section a chassis on the roof of a ford focus estate but it looked much lighter than my chassis.
Any thoughts?

Cheers Paul.

What's it weigh, suspension arms etc stripped off etc can't be that heavy! Stabilising it and keeping it on the roof might be tricky, bite the bullet and trailer it. Its a major part of your effort so I'd treat it careful. Goodluck.

Having bought myself a s/h trailer for moving Tivs about (only to find that my tow vehicle was marginal on towing capacity but that's another story) I found out how in demand these things are.

You could probably buy one, use it for your purposes, and sell it on with no loss.

it's actually a TVR S series chassis. 2 (old)persons to load it onto the wooden supports which were lashed to the roof rails then the chassis lashed to both including ones to stop it from moving fore / aft. One old person + engine lift to take it off. Also back on for the trip to the shot blasters.

My Boss once worked at TVR and one of his jobs was taking the chassis to be powder coated (I guess before TVR did it themselves). He said they just chucked them in the back of a big van and drove them to the powder coaters all banging around in the back, then the same for the return journey once coated. Might explain why some chassis have powder coat issues.....

im not sure they even did that I recon they just left the chassis in the sanding booth for a bit till they were covered in grp dust, them pushed them out side for a bit in the sun so the dust hardened and called that powder coating
