Changed dizzy cap and rotor arm from TVR Power.

Fitted Clives Y piece.

Took her out for run,she was struggling and misfire, looked under bonnet and found one of the HT leads had disconnected from the plug extender.....right thought lets have a blast...

Then she started stuttering(AS IN FEELING OF LACK OF FUEL GOING THROUGH) in low gear but seem to be ok when the speed picked up?

She idles fine, and when you rev her at stand still she is fine, set off ok in first theN to second and kangeroo petrol comes in!!!

Put your old cap or at least rotor arm back on and see if that sorts it. Modern Caps n rotor arms can cause problems due to them well basically being crap.

I have seen it several times with OEM cap/rotor/points/plugs.
Sometimes they just aren't right, even straight out of the box.

In any case, you need to eliminate them as a possible cause first.

I do sympathise with your frustration on this.
Quality control is almost a thing of the past, as apparently it is cheaper to replace parts than to check them.
But if you get me started on that topic, I could fill pages ranting

Seems to be an all round problem. Fitted some new plug leads and a new coil to a MGBGT the other week. Coil was duff and one lead was faulty.

Whether the new cap and arm are bedding in??

Seems more of a fuel not getting through issue?

I'd look at the 'new' cap and rotor too. I had similar issues on an MGB. Felt just like fuel vapourisation problems when warm. Spent time dicking about adjusting/changing the 'wet' side components because I didn't suspect that the brand new rotor could be at fault. Swapped it for a red one and good as gold now.

When i had a distributor i used one of these. Apparently expertly designed to solve the problem. It certainly worked fine for me..
