Insured ? Keys left in house door !
Discussion
Thoughts / comments.
After returning home late, the house keys were left in the door lock. This included the car keys. In the early hours of the morning the car was driven off. The car key was removed from the key ring and the house key was left in the house door lock.
Car was found, potentially written off !
What do you think the insurance company will make of this ?

I'm sure that you mean she must have left them inside the house in the lock, which would make it a clear-cut burglary.
If she really had left them outside in the lock, in full view of the street then I imagine the insurers wouldn't pay?
I like your assumption "she" ..... You are correct though !!If she really had left them outside in the lock, in full view of the street then I imagine the insurers wouldn't pay?

Interesting link.I wonder how often they have claims like this I'd guess it's quite common and they will always say no in the first instance.
£18k will be a very painful mistake.
Awful situation OP. Sure many of us reading this have left the keys on the outside (battling with shopping/ pushchair etc)
Suppose it comes down to the moral thing of being honest with your insurer.
Tell a porkie and you may get paid out. But get caught and you're in the poo.
Tell the truth and you could essentially be kissing the car good bye. If there's money outstanding on it (?) that's a real s
t place to be.
Good luck.
