Hi I'm about to change the Pilot Cups on my 997.2 RS; it's the first time for me. I wondered whether:

1. They are now available in N2s or is N1 still the current latest? I'm seeing a mixture of yes/no/only rears etc through google.

2. What is the best place to buy them? Given the CLs etc I was going to get them shipped to my local OPC who will fit them for GBP10/tyre.

Thanks in advance.

Tyreleader is proving to be about the most competitive at the moment http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/

I would definately go to my OPC for £10 a corner fitting. My local tyre shop charges that.

You can get N2 now, apparently better in the wet.

...and Cup2s are starting to appear if you can persuade your OPC to fit them.

For MPSC+ you want N1 for an RS (the N2 didn't have homologation for the front tyre size the last time I looked and is likely to be discontinued when the Cup2 is available in the size with N rating - due in the region of July according to the man from michelin). If you are not looking to renew the warranty, you can also use the non-N rated Cup2 or the Michelin Supersport (though for the latter you have thus far had to import the rears from the USA directly as they are not marketed here).

Cheapest by a fair margin when I looked last week

On the Michelin PSS option, I got a pair of rears for my 997 GT2 from Tirerack last month (total cost for 325/30/19's for tyre, shipping & import duty was GBP408 each, got them within 7 days of order).

I run MPSS on my 2011 3.8RS...tyres from Tiretrack as above. I just went to Spa/Ring and back and very pleased/relieved I had these on and not Cups. Good compromise tyre between Cup and PS2

Next set will be Cup2s, and then I will decide if non-track performance is good enough compared with MPSS.

Protyre for me, great to deal with: Cups delivered by Michelin following day. CL's are a PITA so needed to have delivered to OPC who charged £40+ per corner for fitting but still ~£300 cheaper for 4 than their quote. Back in for pads next week...

Don't know why everyone is scared of the center locks, i bought a set of winter wheels and tyres last year from OPC and they fitted them, they wanted 80 GBP twice a year to change the wheels over, So i bought a Norbar calibrated torque wrench (250 GBP)good for more than the 600 NM required to tighten the center locks.
Three weeks ago I decided to put the summer wheels back on, and to my horror when i removed the RS center caps two of the central locking pins were not engaged on the spline, also when i removed the wheels there was grease all over the parts that clearly state in the manual that should be free of grease.
As far as i'm concerned the center locks are very simple and only took me 45 mins or so to change all four wheels, I will be discussing it with my OPC next time i go in, and i will be asking them not to fit the RS center caps after the next service so i can check that ALL FOUR center locks are correctly fitted. Its a very simple check, the center of the lock is spring loaded and the inner piece should be flush with the outer, you should be able to push it in with your finger, and it should return back flush.
