Can anyone recommend some "on ear" headphones - up to £100.

I was thinking about either Sennheiser HD280 or Beats By Dre HD Solo.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Bose AE1, or 2 , cant remember whichrolleyes they cost 120 and have a lovely sound, the build qaulity is second to none, worth the extra 20 quid.

You don't say what you will be driving them with, but some of the more expensive models can require a headphone amp if you're wanting to drive them from a phone / mp3 player.

The AKG K450 will happily work straight from a phone / mp3 player and as an added bonus are on special offer at the moment at £39.99 (reduced from £100).

I have a pair myself, and they do sound good (but of course that is purely subjective).

Grado SR80i. Quite a lean sound but detailed, rhythmic and involving. I found the DR Beats heavy and slow sounding.

They are highly recommended by What-HiFi - just ordered a pair. Thanks for the recommendation!

I bought the AKG 451s not long ago and I never knew my iPhone could sound that good. I've always been a Sennheiser ear bud user but these on-ear AKGs are amazing

I've just bought some Harman Kardon CL headphones for £70 (normally about £160) and they are wonderful. I'm really impressed. Was using AKG480s previously and these are a clear step up both in build and sound.

I got mine from Costco of all places but Richer Sounds have them for not much more cash here if you're not a Costco member (and if not, why not :-)) : http://www.richersounds.com/product/all-headphones...

Can't recommend them highly enough.
