Hello,

What's the consensus on the G50s upside-down fitment ?

I realise there's not much choice (!), and I know Porsche engineering is very thorough, but surely the box isn't designed to lubricate upside-down ?

Any problems out there with bearing longevity ?

regards
Roger.

If you search on here for G50 you will find this has been done at length.

The simple answer is that the box was not designed for the 911 type setup and is actually intended to be run the way it is in an Ultima. It's Porsche who run it upside down.
This is also the reason people are getting away with running far more torque through it than Porsche specify for their application.

I think you will find it was only the early Porsche units that were designed that way. which is why we overfill the box when inveted.

However I think we have proved that when correctly fitted and filled the G50 is just as reliable inverted even with huge torque.

overfill? do you mean more than the 3.5 ltrs suggested? How much oil do you put in a G50/50 long box.?
