Split turbo

Just been watching a video on how the Mercedes F1 engine uses a "split turbo", with the compressor and turbine at opposite ends of the engine block. This apparently makes the compressor run cooler and reduces turbo lag. I wonder if this will make it into road cars in the future?

Highly unlikely. Costs more for very little extra gain, plus road cars don't have restrictions on where the turbo has to be placed.
