Dear TVR Chimaera members,

I am looking for your assistance and some information. I have seen the aforementioned vehicle come up for sale and was wondering whether anyone knew anything about it? Any information will be much appreciated.

Can you get a 450 chimaera on a k plate? Or is that some kind of personal plate?

What year was the car manufactured?

According to the DVLA the car was first registered on 02 07 1993.

Yes it is a '93. The intake plenum has the "450" logo on it so would be surprised if it isn't a 450, as that's what it is advertised as.

I just thought i'd post on here incase a previous owner saw and could shed any light on the history of the vehicle. Any similar information welcome and appreciated.

DVLA has it down as 4280cc so would be worth checking.

So a '93 Chimaera will be pre-serp with a Rover Box - Absolutely nothing wrong with any of that, trust me, I owned one for 10-years with no issues.....However, comma - irrespective of what's on the rocker cover, look and see if it is a Pre-Serp??

If not, then it's an engine change (gearbox as well - ECU etc etc ?) and just opens up a can-of-worms - some of it may be good to have - but it just means buyer beware - as with all "things" AIMVHO??

Brilliant information sir. Can i ask what AIMVHO stands for?

I can confirm it's a pre serp as just a thin v belt.

theres been a few of these turn up lately, it will be on the logbook as a 4.3 but the engine number on the car will be 4.5, apparently if you ordered a 4.3 back in the day you could pay a bit extra for a 4.5 engine conversion.

That car was specced as a 4.5 litre and the engine number corresponds as a "45"
It's the other one of a pair ordered through Team Central in April '93 - the other one being the Silverstone Metallic car that Tony Gilbert sold to a PH'er at the beginning of the year.
Amazing really that both these special Chim's are still around.
