Tyre softener

Hi there. Has anybody used tyre softener for a track day? I used it last week for the first time and I won't be useing it again. It ripped my two front slicks to bits.

I think you can safely say no-one has tried this as when something sounds too good to be true, it generally is.

I thought this was something that they only really used for drag cars/tyres?

I guess it softened your tyres too much? I've heard it being used in moderation on slicks with too high a compound. How much did you use?

not tried it yet but the idea is if your race tyres are a bit older (eg 3yrs old and going a bit hard) then this will soften them up, apply 24 hours before use?

anyone else tried it?

Ya I put it on 2 days before as advised by afew people who are supposed to know. But there was a harsh lesson to be learnt lol

How many laps did you do on them ?

I Proberbly done about 10 laps. Which isn't much considering how good the tyres were to start.
